By investing effectively every single Euro, we put our commitment into practice and we ensure competitiveness and innovation in oncological research taking place in Italy.

The diffused nature of the actions undertaken, along with the involvement of all sections of the community, ensures a constant fundraising inflow, which is vital to our mission.

Without people, AIRC would not exist. It’s our supporters that allow us every day to carry out our mission to make cancer ever more treatable.
This is why we want to be close to people who believe in research. All fundraising and awareness initiatives tell what links our work to the commitment of those who believe in us.

Our national fundraising campaigns in the streets

With Arance della Salute, Azalea della Ricerca and Cioccolatini della Ricerca, Italy shows its best: over 25,000 volunteers take to streets every year to support scientific research. After all the challenges the 2020 pandemic brought along, in 2021 our volunteers came back with their stands for Azalea della Ricerca in May and Cioccolatini della Ricerca in November, although they had to skip Arance della Salute in January. For this project, we activated the private distribution of orange blossom honey and orange marmalade jars through our volunteers’ network. We achieved extraordinary results and our volunteers, under the coordination of AIRC Regional Committees, distributed all the products that had been ordered (about 300,000 azaleas and over 190,000 chocolates shoppers).

In 2021, too, our Committees faced successfully the difficulties that arose from the anti-contagion policies, showing proactiveness and resilience, organizing lotteries and other events that would not require gathering in large groups.

The support of the Community

Thanks to the opportunities provided for by the Budget Law, hundreds of thousands of people have decided to support cancer research since 2006, by donating a 5 per thousand share of their yearly income taxes to AIRC.

In 2020, emergency measures enacted by the Government to support the Third Sector allowed us to collect ‘5 per mille’ contributions for both the 2018 and 2019 tax years.

Every day there are more and more companies that choose to take a stand in support of scientific research, attentive to their employees and customers’ health and wellbeing.

In 2021, too, many business and private realities, big and small, decided to stand with AIRC, to contribute to the progress of scientific research and to the mass communication of scientific topics, and the promotion of the culture of prevention and healthy lifestyles. AIRC offers these companies four main forms of partnership:

PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME A proper collaboration path that builds on shared values and translates them into communication and social marketing campaigns and specific fundraising plans towards a common goal. Our team takes your company through all the phases of the programme. CHRISTMAS GIFTS CAMPAIGN Instead of giving Christmas gifts to clients and customers, we invite companies and entrepreneurs to donate to AIRC. The funds raised are earmarked for childhood cancer research. ‘IMPRESA CONTRO IL CANCRO’ A program that connects our country’s companies in a common challenge to take part collectively to the development of research against pediatric cancer, to the progress of the studies focalized on the cancer forms that are still the hardest to treat and to the investments in IFOM (Istituto FIRC di oncologia molecolare). SPECIAL PROGRAMMES AIRC has been close to companies in more than one occasion. From initiatives that complete employee welfare projects to team building and sport activities, from health education to awareness campaigns dedicated to prevention, the worker’s wellbeing is always AIRC and our partners’ main concern.
