Fundraising

Our fundraising

By investing effectively every single Euro, we put our commitment into practice and we ensure competitiveness and innovation in oncological research taking place in Italy.

The diffused nature of the actions undertaken, along with the involvement of all sections of the community, ensures a constant fundraising inflow, which is vital to our mission.

Fundraising efficiency index

This indicator expresses the quota of collection expenditure per each euro received. In 2023, only 15 cents out of each euro donated were used for the organisation of the various fundraising initiatives.

Relationship with people

Without people, AIRC would not exist.

It’s our supporters that allow us every day to carry out our mission to make cancer ever more treatable.

This is why we want to be close to people who believe in research. All fundraising and awareness initiatives tell what links our work to the commitment of those who believe in us.

Our national fundraising campaigns in the streets

The campaigns known as Arance della Salute, Azalea della Ricerca, and Cioccolatini della Ricerca show Italy at its best:

over 20,000 AIRC volunteers take to the streets each year to support research. These occasions are vital for fundraising, informing the public, and raising awareness, and they are always a great success thanks to the time and energy of our dedicated volunteers.

Locally

The Regional Committees have always been at the heart of the AIRC Foundation’s activities at local level.

Their mission is to make the Foundation known throughout all the different regions of Italy, to encourage and support local initiatives, and to involve everyone who wants to contribute to scientific research on cancer.

They organise local events all through the year that celebrate regional traditions and solidarity in the community.

The support of the Community

Thanks to the opportunities provided for by the Budget Law, hundreds of thousands of people have decided to support cancer research since 2006, by donating a 5 per thousand share of their yearly income taxes to AIRC.

Companies

Our work depends on the generous and committed support of companies which share our values and mission.

The corporate fundraising programme offers the business world an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the community by contributing to projects and initiatives that promote the common good. Together we create tailored partnerships and meaningful collaboration, working to achieve research objectives and improve people’s lives. These carefully customised initiatives also comply with the requirements of corporate social responsibility policy.

PARTNERSHIPS

This process brings together the core values shared by the participating company and AIRC, which are translated into communication programmes, cause marketing, and fundraising projects focusing on common goals. The AIRC team guides the company throughout all the stages of the partnership.

STANDING UP TO CANCER, TOGETHER WITH COMPANIES

Supporting cancer research is a commitment we should all feel inspired to make. This is why we appeal to virtuous businesses, asking them to join the effort to increase the resources available for our common goal: finding increasingly effective ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Every year, over 10,000 companies answer our call and choose to support the work of thousands of researchers in hospitals, universities and research institutes throughout Italy. Companies and researchers together, right by the side of cancer patients and their families, building a future where cancer is increasingly curable.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMPANIES

AIRC works closely with companies throughout its national campaigns and during the implementation of initiatives to supplement occupational welfare benefit programmes. This includes team-building activities and sport, ranging from health education to awareness-raising programmes on disease prevention, putting the wellbeing of company employees firmly at the centre of AIRC’s and our partners’ attention.
