Fundraising

Our fundraising campaigns:
in the streets and much more

By investing effectively every single Euro, we put our commitment into practice and we ensure competitiveness and innovation in oncological research taking place in Italy.

The diffused nature of the actions undertaken, along with the involvement of all sections of the community, ensures a constant fundraising inflow, which is vital to our mission.

Relationship
with people

Without people, AIRC would not exist. It’s our supporters that allow us every day to carry out our mission to make cancer ever more treatable. This is why we want to be close to people who believe in research. All fundraising and awareness initiatives tell what links our work to the commitment of those who believe in us.

Our national fundraising campaigns

Every year 3 main fundraising events — ‘Arance della Salute, ‘Azalea della Ricerca’ and ‘Cioccolatini della Ricerca’ — coordinated by the 17 AIRC Regional Committees bring 25,000 volunteers to the streets to support research. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteers were only able to distribute the ‘Oranges of Health’ in the streets in January, 2020. The Azaleas and Chocolates were distributed through Amazon, the world's leading e-commerce platform. Our volunteers and Banco BPM employees played a fundamental role in distributing the Chocolates: our enthusiastic volunteers managed to distribute almost 110,000 shoppers to friends and acquaintances. Banco BPM employees ensured the distribution of the Chocolates in the several branches of their banking group.

The support of the Community

Thanks to the opportunities provided for by the Budget Law, hundreds of thousands of people have decided to support cancer research since 2006, by donating a 5 per thousand share of their yearly income taxes to AIRC and FIRC.

In 2020, emergency measures enacted by the Government to support the Third Sector allowed us to collect ‘5 per mille’ contributions for both the 2018 and 2019 tax years.

Socially responsible companies combining their business strategies with an ethical vision are more and more numerous and participate in the scientific, social and cultural progress of the entire community.

In 2020, entrepreneurs, businesses and companies, regardless of size, joined or renewed their commitment to our mission and contributed to funding cancer research by participating in one of the following 4 collaboration models:

PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME A proper collaboration path that builds on shared values and translates them into communication and social marketing campaigns and specific fundraising plans towards a common goal. Our team takes your company through all the phases of the programme. CHRISTMAS GIFTS CAMPAIGN Instead of giving Christmas gifts to clients and customers, we invite companies and entrepreneurs to donate to AIRC. The funds raised are earmarked for childhood cancer research. ‘IMPRESA CONTRO IL CANCRO’ This programme brings together Italian companies and AIRC researchers in the shared challenge of accelerating the progress of cancer research. As in previous years, the companies involved were able to support young talents by financing training grants. SPECIAL PROGRAMMES AIRC supports companies in many ways. From team building and sports activities to health education and prevention awareness programmes, AIRC integrates a variety of activities into your corporate welfare programme. By teaming up with AIRC, companies put employee well-being at the centre.
