Our community, internal and external, consists of everyone with an interest in seeing our mission accomplished. In very different ways, each category contributes: researchers pursue goals that put ethics above professional recognition, while members, donors, volunteers and partners commit to supporting their work.
Our supporters are our members, whose backing is fundamental; individuals who give even small amounts by telephone, for example during our Research Days; taxpayers who choose to allocate their 0.5 percent to AIRC or FIRC; and everyone who orders our party favors, leaves bequests to us in their wills, makes charitable gifts, or donates in a loved one’s memory.
Then there are schools, the media, spokespeople and institutions. As a whole, the community forms a virtuous cycle that puts scientific progress at the service of society, through better diagnoses, less invasive treatments, and more abundant information encouraging lifestyles that can help prevent illness.
